Facilities
Wood fired hot tub
Silas the Silo BBQ/fire hut, have a BBQ what ever the season or weather!
Exclusive use of the glamping kitchen, with all the amenities that you will need. Fridge, freezer, gas cooker, sink, cooking utensils, kettle, tea and coffee, local biscuits, dog treats, marshmallows. You can even buy our own free range eggs to cook up in the kitchen or take home.
Hot tub
You can’t miss the orange hot tub with its bespoke timber surround, offering complete privacy and protection from the elements.
First use is on us, and super easy. The hot tub can be ready in 90 minutes with the turn of a tap (with our propane heater). This is probably the most economic way to get the best value as it will require less wood on subsequent days. The hot tub is now under cover and has two open sides with amazing views up to Fontmell Down, so if it is raining only your bottom half will get wet. If however it is fine, you can gaze at the stars.
We are happy to have the hot tub ready for your arrival, but please keep in touch with timings so you can make the most out of it fully heated!
Silas the Silo
Meet ‘Silas’. Silas started life as a humble grain silo at Gourd’s Farm, just a hop, skip and a jump away from his new abode here at The Old Forge.
Re-invented from a humble grain store, he provides a one-of-a-kind seating area. An integrated fire pit will keep you warm and you can even barbeque in here.
Silas will give you shelter from the elements and has four removable shutters to cope with all prevailing weathers. He can be used as a BBQ or fire pit!
Hunker down, light the fire and toast a marshmallow or two.
Environmental policy
We feel very passionate and proud about looking after our word and leaving the smallest footprint. Nothing gets thrown away, and everything gets recycled. We pride ourselves in rarely buying anything new, reusing where we can and always recycling and we urge our guests to join us and do the same. Our products that we use are all eco friendly and plastic free from loo roll to re-fillable soaps.

What our guest have to say

"What a fantastic place to stay with everything you need for a cozy getaway. Sophie the host was very helpful and such a nice person that was great at communication and extremely helpful with everything we asked. A lovely rural area with beautiful walking routes, capped off at the end of the day in front of the bbq/fire before soaking in the spacious hot tub. The site had all we could ask for to accommodate our stay. Our first time glamping and it didn’t disappoint. 5 stars all round"

"We had the most relaxing and cosy stay in Mabel at the Old Forge. The perfect retreat away from London, with a great kitchen to cook some delicious dinners, and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and cooking. We loved walking in the surrounding areas of the Downs, and playing scrabble by the wood burning stove"
