Sleeps 2

Sam is also available for additional accommodation for two people within the same party.  Sitting on the other side of the meadow, and complete with his original shepherd’s crook, you can enjoy triple aspect views across to the scarp slopes of Melbury and Fontmell Down.  Sam also has his own veranda, outside dining area and barbeque, as well as the share of facilities with Mabel and your family or friends.

Cast your eyes across the buttercups and you will find Sam the Shepherd’s Hut sitting comfortably in the meadow. Purchased from retired Dorset Shepherd Larry Skeats, Sam has been restored to his former glory and comes complete with a Shepherd’s crook!

The stresses of modern day life are a distant memory here as you gaze across to the scarp slopes of Melbury and Fontmell Down. A pretty vintage quilt and luxurious sheepskin drape the comfortable 4 by 6 foot bed, which makes the most of the triple aspect views. Enjoy the dawn chorus whilst you boil the kettle on the stove to make your morning tea. Sam is well equipped for your arrival with water, stored in a vintage enamel container, with tea and coffee facilities. You also have access to the tuck shop and glampers kitchen which has a fridge and freezer and everything you need so you can enjoy a few evening BBQs.

A clever addition to this authentic hut is the veranda where you can enjoy a glass of wine and the barbecue.

Evening entertainment is by candlelight. You can choose to toast chestnuts on the ‘pipsqueak’ wood burner, reach for the vintage scrabble set, or gaze at the night sky as you have never seen it before.

“The most relaxing holiday ever… we both value peace and quiet in our time off, and this holiday definitely didn’t disappoint”

“The hut was lovely, cosy and well equipped. We lit the log burner in the evening. Surroundings are beautiful, very peaceful”

“We had the most amazing stay in ‘Sam‘ the shepherds hut. It has been thoughtfully decorated with vintage knick-knacks and has the sweetest little stove, which kept us warm and cosy. Tim and Lucy were very well accommodating and the remote location (on the farm with the animals) was perfect”

“I can’t speak highly enough of the Old Forge and everyone associated with it. My girlfriend and I stayed in Sam the shepherd hut for 2 nights and loved every second of it, so much so, we didn’t really feel the need to leave each day…

…The views are stunning, and relaxing around our very own fire pit with a Cider whilst the sun went down was just heaven! Fans of small space living and chronic up cycling would be crazy not to stay here!

Tim and Lucy’s passion for what they are doing is not only admirable but extremely inspirational! We will DEFINITELY be staying here again and all our friends are already bugging us for the address! Thank you again for an unforgettable stay”

Sam, the Shepherd’s Hut is the most romantic place I have ever stayed! We arrived at The Old Forge on a Friday evening to be welcomed by Tim and Lucy, who had already lit the wood burner and candles in the Hut. We opened the door to a magical, cosy haven for the weekend”
