Sam The Shepherds Hut
Sam The Shepherds Hut Dorset

Cast your eyes across the buttercups and you will find Sam the Shepherd’s Hut sitting comfortably in the meadow. Purchased from retired Dorset Shepherd Larry Skeats, Sam has been restored to his former glory and comes complete with a Shepherd’s crook!

Glamping at its best

The stresses of modern day life are a distant memory here as you gaze across to the scarp slopes of Melbury and Fontmell Down. A pretty vintage quilt and luxurious sheepskin drape the comfortable 4 by 6 foot bed, which makes the most of the triple aspect views. Enjoy the dawn chorus whilst you boil the kettle on the stove to make your morning tea. Sam is well equipped for your arrival with water, stored in a vintage enamel container, with tea and coffee facilities. You also have access to the tuck shop and glampers kitchen which has a fridge and freezer and everything you need so you can enjoy a few evening BBQs.

Peaceful and quiet holiday
Unique and vintage

A clever addition to this authentic hut is the veranda where you can enjoy a glass of wine and the barbecue whilst getting to know your neighbours Scrumpy Jack, Jasmine and the chickens!

Weekend away break

Evening entertainment is by candlelight. You can choose to toast chestnuts on the ‘pipsqueak’ wood burner, reach for the vintage scrabble set, or gaze at the night sky as you have never seen it before.

Cosy stays Romantic getaways

The bathroom is just a short hop and a skip across the meandering paved path into a converted outbuilding. An antique commode-come-composting loo, a salvaged suite complete with electric shower, sink and a heated towel rail all combine to make a very comfortable convenience. Please ensure that you inform us what time you will be arriving so we can light the wood burner prior to your arrival!

Glamping with animals

There is space for two children from £15 per child per night, please bring own tent to pitch alongside.

The Gypsy Caravan and the Shepherds Hut's are both situated in the same field, they are ideal for couples or friends wanting to holiday together. BBQs and fires can be done by Sam, Rosie or Mabel.

Tip toe across the stepping stones to the Tuck Shop if you are feeling peckish and weigh out a quarter of Rhubarb and Custard! There is a tiny sink for your washing up and a fridge to store your goodies. Open up the cupboards and you will find picnic plates, glasses, and barbecue fuel outside.

A continental breakfast hamper is available at £5 per head, deleivered to your doorstep at a desired time so you can stay snuggled up in bed as long as you fancy. Or, wander up to the farmhouse for a breakfast that needs to be eaten to be believed: consisting of local sausage and bacon, free range eggs from Lucy's own hens, homemade marmalade, local honey and apple juice from the orchard. Taste of the West award-winning, and it's easy to see why. All ingredients are sourced locally and are either organic or free range. All this is only £10 per person so just let Lucy know after booking if you'd like to indulge. Breakfast in the house is only available depending on availibility, from 2019 the glamping will be self-catering only.

Inside the glampers kitchen (on request and depending on availability) you can help yourself to the range of delicious free range sausages, burgers and local ice cream in the freezer (seasonal) - just leave your money in the honesty box and pop them on the barbecue for a very local supper.
